Here are some questions to consider when deciding on the right type of window treatment.

• Do we want a formal or informal look?
• Will it be an operational or a stationary treatment?
• Do we want a particular style or desired effect?
• Will a valance fit the look?

In order to set the desired mood it is important to look at the type of fabric and the colors of the room. Additional tiebacks, fringes and tassels will in many cases enhance the look.

Details add that extra touch to window treatments. Decorative rods, borders, ruffles, piping, bows, knots and the like are a few possible details that stand out and make the difference.
