Window Treatments
Windows come in many forms and figures. More often than not, windows are off centered and many have unusual shapes such as arches, bay windows and French doors.
As windows vary, so do the treatments. From simple to complex, a window can add a splash of color and warmth to a room or make a bold statement turning it into a focal point.
The shape and size of a window suggests how it should be treated. Yet there is much more to designing a window treatment than its mere shape and size. Color, texture, print, fabric and sheers are all important attributes that will arise when designing your own treatment.
Here are some questions to consider when deciding on the right type of window treatment.
- How much privacy is needed?
- Do we want a formal or informal look?
- Will it be an operational or a stationary treatment?
- Do we want a particular style or desired effect?
- Will a valance fit the look?
In order to set the desired mood it is important to look at the type of fabric and the colors of the room. Additional tiebacks, fringes and tassels will in many cases enhance the look.
Details add that extra touch to window treatments. Decorative rods, borders, ruffles, piping, bows, knots and the like are a few possible details that stand out and make the difference. Other applications that can be done include; wood blinds, Silhouette ™ shades and laminated roller blinds (manual or motorized).
