Company History

In 1939, with the help of six family members, Harold and Jo Cooper opened a small upholstery shop in the heart of Toronto that they named Cooper Bros. Upholstery.   owners1

70 years later, we are pleased to say we’ve continued the tradition of exceptional quality, unparalleled service, and creative craftsmanship.

Cooper Bros. began by providing upholstery to the Fine Furniture department of Eaton’s and other high-end furnishings to stores across the country. As new opportunities arose, we expanded our product range to include upholstered furniture, custom woodwork, window treatments, bed ensembles, and most other home furnishing needs. By improving our craft and creating custom pieces that meet designer’s exact specifications, we quickly became the first stop for high-end interior designers and architects across the country.

We have continued to evolve these services, which are now a major part of our business.

We’ve come a long way from our small St. Patrick Street shop to our vast facility on Roselawn Ave. Today, we’re proud to say the Cooper Bros. family has grown to 26 dedicated craftspeople whose skill range from upholstery to refurbishing and custom design. We’ve become a full service furnishing design company. What does that mean? We create what you design no matter the size, shape, or unique specifics.

We like to think Harold and Jo would be proud of what we’ve become: a recognized and respected brand within the high-end furnishing community. And though styles have changed over the years, the heart of our business remains the same: to deliver high quality custom pieces to our valued clientele.

Now that you know a bit about us, feel free to learn more about our services or take a look at some of our work.
